Carl L. Bucki is the chief judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Western District of New York. Bucki began his service as a United States Bankruptcy Judge on December 30, 1993, and since January 1, 2007, he has served as chief judge.[1]

Education

Judge Bucki earned his bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Cornell University in 1974, and his J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School in 1976.[1][2]

Career

  • From 1976 until 1977 Judge Bucki served as confidential legal assistant to Judge Matthew Jasen of the New York Court of Appeals
  • From 1977 until 1990 he practiced with the law firm of Moot & Sprague in Buffalo, as an associate until 1983 and thereafter as a partner
  • From 1990 until his judicial appointment in 1993 he was a partner in the law firm of Cohen, Swados, Wright, Hanifin, Bradford & Brett
  • National attorney for the Polish Union of America during much of his period in private practice (1986 until 1993)[1]
