Campaign themes
2014
On her campaign website, Meyer highlighted the following issues:[1]
Streets
- Excerpt: "Fix what we've got first. Our city leaders need to take responsibility for the investments we have already made by repairing our city's existing streets before continuing to fund more new streets on the outskirts of town."
Revitalization
- Excerpt: "For the health of our city, we need to reinvest in in [sic] our roots -- in the older parts of the city that have been ignored for too long. It only makes sense to protect our investment. We need to repair our infrastructure and streets and reward those who are willing to rebuild on infrastruture that is already in place."
Harbor bridge
- Excerpt: "The Harbor Bridge project will affect neighborhoods on both sides of the bridge, both north and south. It will also affect those who live in the path of the new bridge and those who live near the old bridge. As president of the North Beach Community Association, I have attended almost every TxDOT public meeting held about this project, joining other residents in asking questions and voicing concerns. I am currently serving as a Community Stakeholder with the Harbor Bridge Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT), helping to plan the redevelopment of the S-E-A District and North Beach."
Air quality
- Excerpt: "The City of Corpus Christi recently developed a new department called Environmental & Strategic Initiatives. Let's empower that department with budget and staff. And as we build new streets, let's ensure that they include pedestrian walkways and bike lanes to make alternative transportation more accessible to everyone."
