Charles S. Treat is a judge for the Superior Court of Contra Costa County in California. He was appointed by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on October 3, 2005.[1][2] He filed for re-election in 2014, but due to facing no opposition, was automatically elected to a new term that expires in 2021.[3]

Education

Treat received a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1977 and a J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1980.[2]

Career

Prior to becoming a judge for the Superior Court of Contra Costa County, Treat worked as a judicial clerk for former judge John Minor Wisdom who sat on the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in New Orleans, Louisiana. Treat also clerked for William Brennan who was an Associate Supreme Court Justice from 1956 to 1990. In addition Treat was once a civil litigator at the firm Latham & Watkins.[2]
