David W. Crockenberg is a former judge for the Tenth Judicial District Court in Colorado. He was appointed to this position in December of 2002 and took office the following February 18th.[1] Crockenberg retired on December 17, 2016.[2]

Education

Crockenberg received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.[3]

Career

Crockenberg began his career in 1974 as an assistant Pueblo County district attorney. In 1977, he left this position to work as a private practice lawyer. He practiced primarily with the firm of Petersen & Fonda, P.C. until his judicial appointment in 2002, and specialized in insurance defense, employment, and civil rights law.[1]

Crockenberg was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 75.87 percent of the vote.[4]

Judicial performance evaluation

The Tenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.[5]


Judge Crockenberg was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [3]
