SUSSEX COUNTY, Delaware: A jury has recommended the death sentence for convicted killer Leslie Small. Small was convicted of murdering 78-year old June McCarson in an attempt to steal her purse. He had been driving her around running errands on the day of her death, and was aware that she had withdrawn $500 in cash. He stabbed her 20 times with a pair of scissors. Small's defense claimed that the attack was fueled by crack cocaine.

Superior Court of Delaware Judge Richard Stokes will set Small's sentence. A sentencing date has not yet been determined.[1]
