Dianne Bentley is the former first lady of Alabama. She divorced Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R) in 2015 after 50 years of marriage. Months later, allegations surfaced about an affair between Bentley and his former aide, Rebekah Mason.
Career
Bentley earned a degree in bacteriology from the University of Alabama. She met Governor of Alabama Robert Bentley (R) in October 1964 and married him July 24, 1965.[1][2]
When her husband became governor, Bentley spent her time as first lady focusing on issues such as domestic violence prevention and foster care.[3]
Divorce
In August 2015, Dianne Bentley filed for divorce after being married to Robert Bentley for 50 years. In April 2016, following allegations of an affair between Robert Bentley and an aide, Rebekah Mason, the governor faced an ethics investigation and possible impeachment proceedings.[4][5]
