Dorothy W. Colom is a judge for the 14th Chancery District of Mississippi.[1][2] She was re-elected on November 4, 2014, for a term that begins in 2015 and expires in 2018.[3][4]

Education

Colom earned an undergraduate degree from Roanoke College (Salem, Virginia) in 1974. She went on to receive her J.D. from Antioch School of Law (Washington, D.C.) in 1978.[5]

Career

Prior to her election to the bench, Colom served as judge pro tempore for the Columbus Municipal Court. She also previously worked in the following capacities:

  • 1987: Youth court referee, Lowndes County
  • 1980-1993: Attorney, Colom and Colom
  • 1980-1988: Project director, Judicare of Mississippi, Inc.
  • 1979-1980: Staff attorney, North Mississippi Rural Legal Services[5]
