Noteworthy DisputesHere's the latest on noteworthy recounts, lawsuits, and other election disputes. RecountsFlorida: On Nov. 11, the machine recount in Florida Senate District 37 concluded. The machine recount shows that 28 votes separate Republican Ileana Garcia, who is in the lead, and Democratic incumbent Jose Javier Rodriguez. A hand recount began on Nov. 12. Preliminary returns showed a 31-vote difference between the two candidates. Twenty of the 40 seats in the Florida Senate were up for election on Nov. 3. Media outlets projected Republicans would retain control of the chamber. Iowa: On Nov. 12, Democratic candidate Rita Hart's campaign announced it would file for recounts in all 24 counties that make up the Second Congressional District. Secretary of State Paul Pate (R) had already ordered a recount in Jasper County. Unofficial returns show Hart trailing Republican candidate Mariannette Miller-Meeks by 47 votes. Missouri: On Nov. 12, a hand recount began for Missouri House of Representatives District 135. Unofficial returns show Democrat Betsy Fogle leading Steve Helms by 34 votes. All 163 Missouri state House districts were up for election on Nov. 3. Media outlets projected Republicans would retain control of the chamber. South Carolina: On Nov. 10, a recount for South Carolina House of Representatives District 90 ended. Preliminary results showed incumbent Justin Bamberg (D) leading Glenn Posey (R). The recount did not change the outcome: Bamberg defeated Posey by a vote of 8,235 to 8,173, with 11 write-in votes. The recount added one vote to Bamberg's total and two votes to Posey's. All 124 state House seats were up for election on Nov. 3. Media outlets projected Republicans would retain control of the chamber. For complete details on all of the lawsuits we're tracking, click here.Upcoming deadlinesUpcoming absentee/mail-in voting deadlinesSix states and the District of Columbia have upcoming secondary receipt deadlines for absentee/mail-in ballots. In these states, ballots generally must have been postmarked on or before Election Day, but they will be accepted if they are received within a certain number of days after Nov. 3. These secondary receipt deadlines are listed below in chronological order.
