Ellen Anderson
Ellen Anderson (b. November 25, 1959) was the chair Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. She previously served as a Democratic member of the Minnesota Senate, representing the 66th District from 1993 to March 20, 2011.[1]
On March 9, 2011, Gov. Mark Dayton announced he was appointing Anderson to chair the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. Her resignation from the state senate was effective March 20.[2]
Biography
Anderson is a former Community Faculty member at Metropolitan State University. She is also a former clerk for Legal Services and Proyecto Libertad in Harlingen, Texas. From 1987 to 1988, she worked as a law clerk for Judge Gary Crippen of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She then worked as a Trial Attorney for the Hennepin County Public Defender's Office from 1987 to 1990. Anderson was also an Attorney for Education Minnesota from 1990 to 1992.[1]
Anderson served as a Research Director for the Wellstone for Senate Campaign in 1990.[1]
Education
Anderson earned her B.A. from Carleton College in 1982. She went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1986.[1]
Political career
Public Utilities Commission 2011-2012
On March 9, 2011, Gov. Mark Dayton announced he was appointing Anderson to chair the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. Her resignation from the state senate was effective March 20.[3] Her appointment by Gov. Mark Dayton was denied by the Minnesota State Senate on January 30, 2012.[1]

Anderson won re-election to the 66th District seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. Greg Copeland ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 7, 2006, Anderson won re-election to the 66th District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating Warren Anderson (R).[4]
