SANTA FE, New Mexico: Eric Griego (D), current state senator for district 14, has declared that he will run for Congress in 2012.[1]
Griego's seat in the New Mexico State Senate is up for election in 2012 and he will not run in that race.[1]
Some other candidates seeking the Congressional seat currently held by Martin Heinrich (D) are:
- State House rep Antonio Maestas (D)
- Terry Brunner (D), former state director to U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman
- Dan Lewis, Albuquerque City Councilor (R)
- State House rep Janice Arnold-Jones (R)
Heinrich intends to run for U.S. Senate.[2]
"We need a congressman who will unapologetically stand up for working families and take on those who would put the interests of the very richest Americans and large corporations ahead of our children, our seniors and our environment," Griego said.[1]
