Gerard E. Maney

Gerard E. Maney is a judge for the Albany County Family Court in New York. He was appointed to this position in 1991 and was reappointed in 2001. He has also served as an acting justice of the Albany County Supreme Court since 1991. Since 2002, he has served on the Family Treatment Court and, since 2006, he has served on the Juvenile Drug Court. His current term ends on January 1, 2022.[1][2]
2011 election
Maney ran unopposed for re-election to the Albany County Family Court. Maney is cross-filled with the Democratic, Conservative and Independence parties.[3]

Education
Maney attended Siena College for his Bachelor of Arts (1971) and Widener University for his J.D.[1]
Career
Maney began his career in 1976 as an attorney for the law firm of Scheiberling, Rogan & Maney. He worked in that capacity until his judicial appointment in 1991. He also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany from 1981 to 1991. He was then appointed to the Family and Supreme Courts of Albany County.[1]
Censured
On January 3, 2011 Judge Maney was censured by The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct for being convicted of driving while intoxicated and for asserting his judicial office in connection with his arrest.
Maney repeatedly tried “to avoid the full consequences of his wrongdoing” by making repeated references to his judicial status during his arrest.[5]
