Gerry Garcia is a financial consultant for LPL Financial and a former alderman for the ninth ward. On October 30, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of Secretary of State, a seat that was vacated by Susan Bysiewicz, who decided not to run for re-election to her current position.[1] He failed to secure the party nomination after receiving only thirty-six percent of the vote on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.[2]
