Florida: Heidi Davis, a magistrate in Lake County, was chosen by Gov. Crist to replace retiring Judge Jack Springstead on the 5th Circuit Court in Hernando County. Regarding the appointment, Gov. Crist stated, "Heidi's great respect for the bench, behind-the-scenes experience in the courtroom and her knowledge of the law will help her serve with fairness and common sense." Springstead's last day on the court will be November 30th.

Davis, 45, received her law degree from the Stetson University College of Law before beginning her legal career as a judicial law clerk. She has worked as a magistrate in Lake County for the past six years and is also a lawyer in Mount Dora. After two failed attempts at a judicial position in the past, she has finally achieved her goal of becoming a judge. "I'm humbled and excited to have this opportunity. I'll do my best," she said.[1]
