Sims ran for election to the Ouachita Parish Justice Court. Primary: He received 64.6 percent of the vote in the primary on October 19, 2013, defeating Waylon McCormick.
General: He won without opposition in the general election on November 16, 2013.His name did not appear on the ballot.[2][3]
