It's a long shot, but...FL Supreme Court asks for more judges

Florida: Yesterday the Florida Supreme Court unanimously requested that the Florida State Legislature fund 72 new judgeships. This is the sixth year running that the judiciary has asked for more judges. In the first five, the legislature did not authorize any. Since the legislature is expecting a $2 billion budget deficit at the beginning of its 2012-2013 fiscal year in July, it is likely that no new judges will be joining the third branch this year either.[1]
The Supreme Court, which serves as the administrative arm of the state judiciary, are hoping for one judge for the Florida Second District Court of Appeal, 23 judges for the Circuit Court and 48 judges for the County Courts.[2] In their annual report to the legislature, the justices of the Supreme Court stated that the work of judges across the state has increased as the number of support staff for the courts has dwindled. Governor Rick Scott has already requested that court funding remain the same next year.[1]
