Jean Washington is the District 3 representative on the Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees in Texas. Washington sought another term in the general election on May 7, 2016. Her election was canceled due to a lack of opposition.

Washington returned to a board trying to comply with a desegregation order that was placed on the district in 1970.

Washington is a retired educator. She taught in the Waskom Independent School District and the Tyler Independent School District for over 35 years. She obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Texas College.[1]

Two of the seven seats on the Tyler Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Incumbents Wade Washmon and Jean Washington ran unopposed and won re-elction to the seats in Districts 1 and 3, respectively. Their elections were canceled due to a lack of oppoistion. District 6 incumbent Fritz Hager Jr. defeated challenger Marc Loredo for the seat.[2][3]
