Jimmy C. Smith is a judge for the Obion County General Sessions Court in Tennessee. He was elected to this position by the Obion County Commission on May 18, 2009, effective the following July, to replace Raymond Morris. He is based out of Union City.[1][2] He was re-elected in 2010 and 2014. His current term expires on August 31, 2022.[3][4]
Education
Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1976 and his J.D. from the University of Memphis in 1978.[1]
Career
Smith began his career as a private practice lawyer in 1979. In 1984, he became a partner of the law firm of Conley, Campbell, Moss and Smith. He has also served on the staff of Congressman Ed Jones. In 2009, he was appointed to the general sessions court.[1]

General: He defeated James Thomas Powell in the general election on August 7, 2014, receiving 66 percent of the vote.
