John J. Walton

John J. Walton is a judge for the Fifth Judicial District in Iron County, Utah.[1] Walton was first appointed to this position in November 2005 by Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr.[2] He was retained in 2014 for a term that expires on January 3, 2021.[3]

Walton was retained to the district court in November 2008.[4]
Education
Walton received his undergraduate degree from Utah State University in 1990. He went on to earn his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1993.[2]
Career
Walton began his career as an associate and shareholder with Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough. He then served as a deputy attorney in Washington County before being appointed to the bench. He was also was briefly appointed a special assistant United States Attorney's office in 2005.[2]
