John V. Romei

John V. Romei was an active retired judge on the Machias District Court in Washington County, Maine.[1] Romei was appointed as a district judge on the Machias District Court in Washington County, Maine by Governor John R. McKernan, Jr. in 1992. He was sworn into his new position as a retired active judge by Governor Paul LePage on July 2, 2013.[2] Retired active district court judges are appointed to serve for a term of 7 years and can be reappointed for additional terms of 7 years.[3]

Romei received his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law.[2]
Career
Before becoming his appointment to the bench in 1992, Romei worked as an attorney in private practice. He was hired to serve as a trial judge for the Passamaquoddy Nation before he started his own law practice, and he currently serves in this position part-time. His first job, after he became an attorney, was as a district attorney.[2]
