Kevin M. Dowd
Kevin M. Dowd was a justice for the Chenango County Supreme Court in the 6th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to a term that began in 1999.[1][2] He also served on the Otsego County Supreme Court.[3] Dowd retired in 2017.[4]
Education
Dowd received his B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1971 and his J.D. degree from the William and Mary Law School in 1974.[1]
Career
Dowd began his career in 1975 as an associate attorney to Irad S. Ingraham. The following year, he co-founded the legal partnership of Honeywell and Dowd. He worked there until 1980 while also serving as an assistant Chenango County district attorney from 1977 to 1980. He then worked as a self-employed private practice lawyer and a Chenango County District Attorney from 1980 to 1986. He also taught as an adjunct professor of the State University of New York at Morrisville.
Dowd began his judicial career in 1986 when he was elected to the Chenango County Court. He served as a multi-bench judge for the Surrogate's, County, and Family courts through 1998. He then joined the Supreme Court in 1999.[1]

Dowd was re-elected after running unopposed to the Chenango County Supreme Court in the 6th District. He was re-nominated at the Republican Judicial Convention held on September 24, 2012 in Binghamton, New York.[5]

- Dowd was rated as “highly qualified” by the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission.[5]
