Louisiana Court of Appeal judge announces retirement

Louisiana: Judge Michael Kirby of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal has announced that he will not be seeking re-election this fall and will retire. Kirby is 62 years old and has held his current judicial position since 1999. He announced his decision on Monday, May 3, saying the following in the statement he released that day, "As election season approaches I have considered my options. It is time for a new generation to direct the future of our parish."[1]
