Maalik Summer (formerly Miranda Summer) ran for election for judge of the Oregon 20th Judicial District Circuit Courts. Summer was on the ballot in the primary on May 17, 2022.[source]
Summer was appointed to the court on January 27, 2022 by Kate Brown to replace Ramón Pagán and is the first openly transgender judge in Oregon's history.[1][2]
Biography
Summer received a bachelor's degree from Regis University and a J.D. from the University of Oregon. Summer has practiced as a family law attorney and has served as an administrative law judge for the Office of Administrative Hearings and as a pro tem judge on the Washington County Circuit Court. Prior to being appointed to the 20th Judicial District, Summer served as a judge on the Beaverton Municipal Court.[1]
