Magdeline D. Coleman is the Chief Bankruptcy Judge on the United States bankruptcy court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She was appointed to the court on April 12, 2010, and her term will expire on April 11, 2038.[1]

Education

Coleman received her undergraduate degree from Chestnut Hill College in 1978 and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1981.[1]

Career

Coleman began her career working for a family business as a general counselor. The business provided services to college students in the Philadelphia area. Next, she worked with Atkinson & Archie, P.C. She also worked as a staff attorney for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where she began working as a bankruptcy attorney. Later, she was a law clerk for David A. Scholl. Next, she work at the firm of Sagot, Jennings and Sigmond where she with national and local Taft Hartley funds in bankruptcy cases. Lastly, she worked with Buchanon Ingersoll & Rooney PC on bankruptcy and related litigation.[1]
