The Maine Constitution Codifying Time Referendum, also known as Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 1, was on the November 7, 1967 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1] The measure made the schedule for the recodification of the Maine Constitution every 10 years starting in 1973. Prior to this, it was whenever a new revision of the public laws of the state was authorized.[2][3]

Background

The process for the codification of the Maine Constitution was originally created in 1950 by another legislatively referred constitutional amendment.
