The Maine November General Election Referendum, also known as Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 2, was on the September 9, 1957 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure changed the biennial general election date from the second Monday of September to the Tuesday after the first Monday in November.[1][2]

PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 2

"Shall the Constitution which now provides that the general election shall take place on the second Monday of September, biennially, be amended, as proposed by a resolution of the Legislature, to the Tuesday following the first Monday in November?" [3]
