Mark E. Powell is the senior resident superior court judge for the 29B Judicial District of the Eighth Division of the Superior Court, which presides over Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania counties in North Carolina.[1] Powell was re-elected to the 29B Judicial District of the Eighth Division of the Superior Court in 2014, winning a new term that expires on December 31, 2022.[2][3]

The North Carolina Superior Courts are split into five divisions and 48 districts. Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[4] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[5]
