Marlene M. Alva

Marlene M. Alva is a Seminole County judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush in August of 2003 to replace retired Judge Thomas G. Freeman. She was elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2012. Her current term expires in January of 2019.[1][2][3][4]
Education
Alva received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 1974 and her J.D. degree from the Stetson University College of Law in 1977.[2]
Career
Alva began her career in 1977 as an assistant state attorney for Brevard County. She later worked as an assistant public defender in Brevard and Seminole counties. From 1992 to 1996, she served on the Seminole County Court. She then served as a private practice lawyer until she was appointed to the circuit court in 2003.[2][5]
2012 election
Alva was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
