Campaign themes
2014
Yarbrough's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Education
- Excerpt: "Many of our children are failing and it's not because of our teachers. The bureaucratic one size fits all government education is harming the incentive to allow our children to succeed. Parents should have options that include Public School, Charter Schools and Vouchers."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "The Washington Post summarized that "[T]he industries responsible for the most job creation over the last four years are also the industries that pay the least." Nevadans need careers, not low paying jobs. We need to diversify our business base and create an environment that gives businesses such as technology and industry a reason to call Nevada home."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "We simply cannot tax our way into prosperity. Nevada suffered greatly by the recession of 2008 and we are just now beginning to recover. Increasing taxes for small business owners will not only kill job growth, it will force many small businesses, that are still struggling, to close its doors. We need to take a serious look at our budget and tax base, eliminate wasteful spending, and keep what is working and find alternatives for what is not."
