Melanie Stanton

Melanie Stanton is a judge on the Grand Traverse County Probate Court in Michigan. In 2012, she was elected to the court to a term expiring in 2019.
Education
Stanton received a diploma in nursing from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1978, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 1983. She earned her J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1989.[1]
Career
Stanton has been a practicing attorney for over 22 years. She has worked as a guardian ad litem representing children in family law cases, and is an approved mediator for the 13th Circuit and Family Court in domestic relations. She has experience in family law and estate planning.[2]
2012 election
Stanton advanced from the primary election, winning 35.54% of the vote. She defeated Kirsten L. Keilitz in the general election on November 6, winning 52.08% of the vote.[3][4][5]
