Michael Chase Basinger was a candidate for the District 4 seat on the Marion County School Board in Florida. He faced Angelia Lorraine Boynton, Jamie L. Bevan and Diane Lynn Schrier in the general election on August 26, 2014. Since neither he nor Boynton received 50 percent of the vote, he challenged her in a runoff election on November 4, 2014. Basinger lost the runoff election.

The August 26, 2014, general election in Marion County featured three seats up for election. The District 3 race included incumbent Bobby James and challengers Jane Moerlie, Jim Touchton and Ed Wilson. District 4 Angelia Lorraine Boynton sought re-election against Michael Chase Basinger, Jamie L. Bevan and Diane Lynn Schrier. Ronald Bruce Crawford was running for re-election in District 5 against Kelly D. King.

The general election determined if candidates for each seat could garner a majority of the vote total. If no candidate received 50 percent plus one of the general election votes in a particular district, the top two vote recipients advanced to the runoff election on November 4, 2014.
