Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Scupin's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Family Values: Family Values is a pivotal issue today. The Declaration of Independence guarantees the right to life. We must protect the life of the unborn. I hold fast to the definition of marriage as described in the Bible. We must uphold the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. The US Constitution cites no powers given to the US Government to deal with either of these issues. I will work feverishly to return legal decisions on the sanctity of life and marriage back to the states, as the US Constitution requires.
  • Education and Common Core: Centralized government education across America is a major threat to freedom and the family. Education policies are best decided at the most local level possible. The US Government has no Constitutional basis to decide education policies. Those policies are designed to reside with the states and with the people of those states.
  • Second Amendment-The Right That Guarantees All Others: I will fight against any attempt to even slightly encroach on your second amendment right to bear arms, whether it come from progressives in Congress or through unconstitutional Executive Orders. I will work in Congress to repeal any and all laws that infringe the right of honest citizens to bear arms in ways they desire.
  • Religious Liberty & The First Amendment: I believe congress must step up and do all that is necessary to protect citizens who own small businesses from out-of-control courts and an executive branch that runs roughshod over the rights of all Americans, forcing them to abandon their religious beliefs by threats of judicial coercion.
  • Immigration/Jobs: America will no longer be a nation, certainly not a nation of laws, if it continues to allow masses of individuals to indiscriminately cross our borders. Amnesty for any person whose first act in our country is to break our laws is not an option. Individuals who desire to enter America and remain must do it legally, be encouraged to assimilate into our society, learn to speak English and embrace American values.
