Nevada judge lets contested North Las Vegas election stand
January 15, 2012
Nevada: Nevada District Judge Susan Scann has ruled to allow a North Las Vegas City Council election that was decided by one vote to stand. This was the second time Judge Scann ruled on the contested election, upholding her previous decision that the election results were valid. Former North Vegas City Councilman Richard Cherchio was defeated by Wade Wagner by a vote of 1,831 to 1,830. Cherchio legally contested the results citing voting irregularities and has stated he will appeal the judge's decision to the Nevada Supreme Court. Scann explained her ruling saying "You have to set a deadline at some point in these cases. If I reconsider at this point it's like opening Pandora's box, and I don't intend to do that."[1]
