Biography
Ray Michaelson is a graduate of Dimond High School in Anchorage, AK. He earned his bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University in 1982 and received his Alaska Teaching Certification the same year. Michaelson is married and has three children. He works for the State of Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice as the Matanuska-Susitna District Supervisor, Quality Assurance/Training Manager, and Superintendent of the Matanuska-Susitna Youth Facility. He has served as a coach for multiple area youth football and soccer teams. He has also served as a board member for Matanuska-Susitna Recovery/AK Family Resource Center, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Board, and Mat-Su Borough Human Services Matching Grant Committee.[1]

Three of the seven seats on the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District school board were up for general election on October 4, 2016. Incumbents Susan Pougher and Ray Michaelson ran for Seat C. Michaelson was first elected to the Seat G position on the board in 2013. He defeated Pougher for Seat C. Incumbent Donna Dearman ran unopposed to win Seat F, and newcomer Yvonne Ruth ran unopposed to win Seat G. [2]
