Renae Hansen was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 54 of the Kansas House of Representatives.

Campaign themes

2016

Hansen's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Investing In Public Education

Renae is committed to ensuring all Kansas children receive the 21st century education they deserve. She will work hard everyday to provide resources, support teachers, and protect learning opportunities at all levels (Pre-K through post-secondary and technical education).

Restoring The Kansas Economy

Renae believes in an economy that gives all Kansans an opportunity to achieve the American Dream. She will work to end the on-going budget crisis created by years of fiscal mismanagement by collaborating with colleagues to create equitable, sustainable tax policy with responsible, efficient spending priorities.

Reducing The Tax Burden

Renae pledges to support fair policies to reduce the tax burden. She knows the concerns of rising property taxes and sales tax on food on average Kansas families. Many fear they will no longer be able to afford to live in their family homes because of high property taxes. At the same time, many struggle to provide for their families because of the highest sales tax on food in the nation.

Good Jobs, Good Pay

Renae wants to work to put Kansas back on the right track in order to attract and retain businesses that create good paying jobs, strengthen existing industries, and encourage growth in STEM industries. Only then can our state build a strong economy that every Kansas family may benefit from.

Government Transparency

Renae understands that the cornerstone of democracy is transparency. Kansans deserve to know how the very policies that impact them the most are being developed. She remains committed to returning our state government to the people.[1]
