Reno Municipal Court judge dies in car crash
October 21, 2010
Reno, Nevada: Judge Paul Hickman, of the Reno Municipal Court, passed away early on the morning of Thursday, October 21. Hickman had been hospitalized after a car crash the previous Saturday. In the crash, he lost control of his vehicle while driving to a Reno church. Police say that his loss of control was due to a medical event, but nothing more specific has been made public. After losing control of the vehicle on a residential street, he crashed into a garage. No one but him was injured.[1]
Judge Hickman, 66, had been wheelchair-bound since a traffic accident which occurred when he was in his 30s. He was appointed to the Reno Municipal Court bench in 1991, and was re-elected four times without opposition. His term was set to expire at the end of this year; he was seeking election to another term in the Nov. 2, 2010 general election, and was once again unopposed.[1]
