Richard Lyons (Connecticut)

Richard Lyons II was an at-large member on the Stamford Board of Education from 2010 to July 2014. He won re-election to the board as a Democratic candidate against five other candidates on November 5, 2013. Lyons was first elected to the board in 2010. He resigned in July 2014 to take a job with AFB Management, a school district vendor.[1]
Biography
Lyons has previously served on the Stamford Board of Representatives. He has three children who currently attend district schools.[2]

Campaign themes
2013
During an October 3, 2013 candidate forum, Lyons advocated for stronger solutions to the bullying issue in district schools. He placed bullying at the same priority level as drugs and alcohol during the debate. He advocated for rapid response teams capable of counseling victims and remedying issues with bullies. Lyons also discussed an anonymous tip line where students could call or text when they encountered bullying incidents.[4]
