Norman, Oklahoma: Judge Rodney Ring, who was appointed to the 21st District Court at the beginning of this month, has decided not to seek re-election. He replaced Judge William Hetherington on this court, but will only serve in this position for seven months. Ring cited an overly busy schedule as a key factor in his decision.

"...I cannot transition to the new position, assist in orienting the new Special Judge and run an election campaign at the same time. The citizens of the 21st District deserve to have a full-time district judge in the busiest district in Oklahoma," he said.

This decision makes way for Sen. Nichols, the only candidate who has filed for the position so far, to obtain the judgeship.[1]
