Robert C. Mulvey was a justice on the third department of the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in February 2016. Mulvey retired from the court in January 2021.[1][2]

Previously, he was the district administrative judge for the 6th Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 2009. He also served as a justice of the Tompkins County Supreme Court from 2001 until his appointment to the appellate division.[3][4] He was re-elected in 2014.[5]

Education

Mulvey received his B.A. degree in history from the State University of New York at Cortland College in 1977 and his J.D. degree from the New York Law School in 1980.[3]

Career

Mulvey began his career in 1981 as an associate of the Mulvey Law Firm. He then worked as a partner of the Albanese & Mulvey Law Firm from 1994 to 2000. He also worked for Tompkins County as an assistant district attorney (1982 to 1987) and a county attorney (1987 to 1993). From 1994 to 2000, he served as legislative counsel for the New York State Senate.

Mulvey began his judicial career in 2001 when he joined the Tompkins County Supreme Court (6th Judicial District) following a successful 2000 election. He was also appointed to serve as administrative judge of the 6th Judicial District in 2009.[3]
