Peña ran for re-election to the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District to represent Place 4 in Texas. Peña lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Peña was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 40 of the Texas House of Representatives.

Biography

Peña's professional experience includes working as vice president of Texas Energy Consultants, area manager for Texas Workforce Solutions, executive director at Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, and project coordinator at Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1986 to 1993, serving in Desert Storm during 1991. Peña earned his B.S. in economics from Texas Tech University in 1993.

Peña is affiliated with the following organizations; Board of Directors for National Association of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials, Board of Directors for Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities & Scholarships, Edinburg Rotary Club, Edinburg Jaycees, American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), and Global Renewable Energy Network (GReEN).

Three of the seven seats on the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. Place 4 incumbent Jaime Solis faced challengers Robert Pena Jr., Arnulfo Rios Jr., and Ramiro Guerra. The Place 6 race included incumbent Carmen Gonzalez and challenger Carlos Jasso. Newcomers Miguel Farias and Luis Alamia ran for the Place 7 seat. Pena, Gonzalez, and Farias won their respective seats.[1]

Pena ran in the 2012 election for Texas House of Representatives, District 40. Pena was defeated by Agustin Hernandez, Jr. and Terry Canales in the May 29 Democratic primary election.[2][3]
