Two seats on the Robertson County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on August 7, 2014. Incumbents in Districts 1 and 2 were up for re-election.

District 2 incumbent Stoney Crockett won the election against challenger Gary N. Lima. Incumbent Allan B. Heard ran unopposed, keeping his District 1 seat.[1][2]

Robertson County Schools is located in Robertson County, Tennessee. The county seat of Robertson County is Springfield. Robertson County was home to 67,383 residents in 2014, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] In the 2011-2012 school year, Robertson County Schools was the 15th-largest school district in Tennessee and served 11,457 students.[4]

Demographics

Robertson County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Tennessee in terms of education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 16.3 percent of Robertson County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.5 percent for Tennessee as a whole. The median household income for Robertson County was $52,588 compared to $44,140 for the state of Tennessee. The percentage of people below poverty level for Robertson County was 13.0 percent while it was 17.3 percent for the state of Tennessee.[3]

Voter and candidate information

The Robertson County Board of Education consists of six members elected to four-year terms by specific geographic district. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on August 7, 2014. Two seats were up for election in 2014.[6]
