May 23, 2022: Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters think that large corporations should focus on their businesses and only engage with issues that directly impact those businesses. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 28% believe that large corporations should actively engage with important political and cultural issues, and 17% are not sure.

The survey also found that, when corporations do comment on important cultural issues, 27% of voters believe they should represent the views of their customers, followed by the views of employees (18%), shareholders (18%), management (13%), or some other group (6%). Nineteen percent (19%) were not sure whose views corporations should represent.

Methodology

The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on May 10-11, 2022. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 2.8 percentage points.
