R.A. Ferguson, Jr.
Ralph Alton "Sonny" Ferguson, Jr. was a domestic relations judge of Circuit 10 in Jefferson County, Alabama.[1] He served in this position from 1995 to 2011.[2][3]
On October 31, 2016, Judge Ferguson was selected as one of seven retired judges to sit in place of the recused justices of the Alabama Supreme Court to hear the appeal of Chief Justice Roy Moore of his permanent suspension by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary.[4]
Education
Judge Ferguson received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law.[2]
Career
Judge Ferguson was admitted to the practice of law on May 3, 1974.[5] He worked as an attorney in general practice before becoming a judge in 1995.[2] He served as a judge until 2011, when he became a partner at Birmingham law firm Christian & Small.
