The State Court Interpreters Program Act of 2009 was a proposed federal act that would have created a grant program for states to hire additional interpreters. The legislation was also designed to give grant money to states which did not have interpreter programs in order to create new programs. This bill was introduced in the United States Senate on June 23, 2009, and referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee the same day. The bill never moved past the committee stage and was therefore not enacted.[1]
