One of the five seats on the Hernando County School Board Board of Education was up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In District 4, incumbent Gus Guadagnino and William Vonada were the top two vote-getters in the primary election on August 30, 2016, and they advanced to the general election. Guadagnino successfully defended his seat against Vonada. Challenger Michael Gordon was defeated in the primary election. Three newcomers ran for the District 2 seat in the primary election: Mario Littman, Linda Prescott, and Steven Van Gorden. Prescott defeated the other candidates, taking more than 50 percent of the votes cast and winning the seat outright. [1][2]
