Takiyah H. Perkins was a 2014 candidate for the Fourth Judicial District (Place 3) in Mississippi. She competed in a runoff election on November 25, 2014 against Carol White-Richard and was defeated.[1]

Perkins ran for election to the Fourth Judicial District.
Perkins received 34.2% of the votes in the general election. Because no candidate received over 50% of the vote, Carol White-Richard and Perkins, who received the most votes in the general election, competed in a runoff election on November 25, 2014. White-Richard defeated Perkins in the runoff, bringing in 54.2% of the vote to Perkins' 45.8%.[1] 

Education

Perkins graduated in 2000 from Greenwood High School. She earned a B.A. in English and a B.A. in political science from Tougaloo College. She received her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law.[2]

Career

Perkins began her legal career as a judicial law clerk and staff attorney for Judge Vernita King Johnson of the Washington County Youth & County Court. She continued her career as an assistant district attorney and, prior to running for election to the bench, practiced law in the Fourth Judicial District.[2]
