Career

From 1997 to 1998, Tessa Gould worked for former Democratic U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan.[3] From 1998 to 2002, she was deputy chief of staff to Democratic Congressman Earl Pomeroy from North Dakota. Pomeroy represented North Dakota's At-large Congressional District. Heidi Heitkamp

In 2012, Tessa Gould served as campaign manager for Democratic United States Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota. Heitkamp won by fewer than 3,000 votes. Political analyst Stuart Rothenberg wrote of Heitkamp's campaign, "Republicans and Democrats alike are nearly unanimous in praising Heitkamp's campaign and messaging...One Republican consultant claims that Heitkamp 'is running the best campaign in America.'"[7] In 2013, Gould was named "Campaign Manager of the Year-Democratic" by the American Association of Political Consultants.[8] She has served as chief of staff to Senator Heitkamp since 2013.[1]

In 2013, Gould was named to the list of Top 500 Influencers in American Politics by Campaigns & Elections Magazine.[9]
