Thomas R. Lee confirmed to Utah's Supreme Court
June 24, 2010
Utah: Yesterday the Utah Senate confirmed Thomas Rex Lee to serve on the Utah Supreme Court. Lee will serve a 10-year term. If he chooses to file for re-election, he would participate in a retention election in 2020.[1]
Prior to joining the court, Lee was a professor at Brigham Young University. His research and teachings covered various areas of the law: civil procedure, intellectual property, legal interpretation and analysis, and trademark issues. He also worked part time for the firm Howard, Phillips & Anderson, concentrating on trademark and copyright law.[2]
Lee was nominated by Governor Gary Herbert on May 28. He will replace retiring Michael J. Wilkins, who left the court in May.[2]
