A measure to abolish the office of county surveyor was on the ballot for voters in Williamson County, Texas, on November 7, 2017. It was approved.

A yes vote was a vote in favor of abolishing the office of Williamson County surveyor
A no vote was a vote against abolishing the office of Williamson County surveyor

County surveyor Joe Baker (R) opted not to run for re-election in 2018, and the need for surveying had been on the decline in the state in the years leading up to the 2017 election. According to Hal Hawes, legal counsel to the county commissioners court, there were no properties to survey in the county as of July 2017. The commissioners' court decided to present the option of eliminating the position before the 2018 election season started and candidates started filing for the office.[1]

The Williamson County Commissioners Court voted unanimously on July 18, 2017, to send the proposition to the November 2017 ballot.[2]
