Washington, D.C.: On December 16th Yvonne Williams was sworn in as an associate justice of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She has been serving the court since August of 2011, when she was confirmed by the Senate following her February 2011 nomination from Barack Obama.
Prior to this appointment, Williams was of counsel with the firm Miller & Chevalier. She earned her legal degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1997 and received a fellowship with the National Association of Public Interest Law (now known as Equal Justice Works) to work at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund for two years post graduation.[1]
