Melinda Salinas was the at-large District 7 representative on the Judson Board of Trustees in Texas from 2015 to 2018. She won election to the board in the general election on May 9, 2015. Salinas resigned from the board November 15, 2018, after moving out of the district.[1]

The general election on May 9, 2015, in the Judson Independent School District featured three seats up for election. In the District 1 race, incumbent Steve Salyer faced challenger Rick Page. In the At-large District 6 race, incumbent June Adair competed against Reneé Paschall. At-large District 7 incumbent Sonny-Peter Merrell faced three challengers: Misty Dunn-Suarez, Melinda Salinas and Rod Tanner. While Slayer retained his seat, Paschalld defeated Adair and Salinas unseated Merrell.

Funding

Salinas reported no contributions but $1,122.50 in expenditures to the Texas Ethics Commission, which left her campaign with $1,122.50 in debt as of April 9, 2015.[2]

Texas school board candidates and officeholders must file semiannual reports, which were due on January 15, 2015, and July 15, 2015. In addition, candidates in contested elections were required to file 30-day and 8-day pre-election reports, unless the candidate chose modified reporting.[3]

Candidates in contested elections who did not intend to exceed $500 in contributions or expenditures, excepting filing fees, were eligible for modified reporting. If they exceeded the threshold before the 30th day prior to the election, candidates were required to submit the 30- and 8-day reports. If they exceeded the threshold after the 30th day prior to the election, they were required to file a report within 48 hours of exceeding the threshold and participate in regular reporting for the rest of the election cycle.[4]
